Targeted management of myopia in children, healthier eyes in adulthood
Myopia management for children
Myopia is a consequence of the eye being slightly too long. Conventional single vision lenses can correct myopia, but they are not designed to slow it down. Rather, when corrected with these lenses, light is projected behind the retina, causing some children's eyes to grow excessively long and exacerbating short-sightedness.
Rodenstock MyCon® lenses feature market-proven2 HAPD™ Technology. This technology refracts light so that it strikes the periphery in front of the retina rather than behind it. This can slow down eye elongation. The areas that manage myopia progression in a MyCon® lens are arranged laterally. This ensures sharp vision not only in the center of the lens but also above and below.
Even more precise adaptation
Children develop quickly and individually, just like their faces and eyes. With MyCon® 2, Rodenstock takes four individual wearing parameters into account when calculating the lens: Pupil distance, corneal vertex distance, pantoscopic tilt and face form angle.
This enables even more precise adaptation to the fit of the frame and therefore to your child's unique face to ensure optimum effect and visual comfort with lenses for myopia management.
PUPIL DISTANCE (PD)
The distance between the centres of the pupils is accounted for to achieve optimal vision.
CORNEAL VERTEX DISTANCE (CVD)
By using the exact distance from the back surface of the lens to the cornea, we ensure ideal lens performance.
PANTOSCOPIC TILT (PT)
We can incorporate the tilt of the lens in our calculations to optimise vision though the lens.
FACE FORM ANGLE (FFA)
We include the face form angle in lens calculation to improve central vision comfort.
Benefits for your patients
Children quickly perceive glasses as a constraint. MyCon® lenses from Rodenstock are available in a variety of indices and can thus be flexibly adapted to a child's needs.
The thinner and lighter lenses from Rodenstock are not unpleasantly noticeable even at high visual acuities.
Lenses made of plastic ensure high safety during play & activities.
Myopia management lenses are the simplest form of treatment for short-sightedness and help prevent myopia from progressing uncontrollably in children.
