What do eye care professionals say about biometric intelligent glasses?
Opticians know that how a patient perceives their vision is just as important as correct prescription measurements.
B.I.G. VISION™ brings both together, for adaptation that feels natural from the start.

"Bringing in biometry into the lens design process has been quite powerful"
Biometric precision is particularly beneficial for patients who are further away from the Gullstrand eye, says Dr Grant Hannaford, optometrist from Australia.
Find out what he and other experts think about how biometric precision improves patients' vision.

Eye care professionals share their experiences with B.I.G. VISION™
See all questions we asked our experts at a glance and read about their experiences with B.I.G. VISION™, how it changed their way to work and how they see it does improve their patients' lives.
- Bringing in biometry into the lens design process, we found has been quite powerful and it allows the patients to have what we would consider to be like a normalized perception compared to people who are closer to the model eye.
- So it brings across the entire range of prescriptions and biometries a flatter response so that someone who's closer to a normal eye someone who's further away from the normal eye will get a similar response from their lenses which is quite exciting for people who do exist in those outlying regions of biometry.
- That a subjective measurement of how a patient is experiencing their prescription is as important as an objective set of measurements as well. So how they're reacting in real life in free space coupled with a set of biometric measurements is a really important way of developing an easily adapted and quite natural experience.
Dr Grant Hannaford, Optometrist, Australia
- Better vision, better comfort, happy people!
Satu Järvinen, Optometrist, Finland
Our eyes are not the same, so we need another different approach, customised approach, individual approach. We all know that today we have to be very precise and that we can have a much, much better result if we have a customized approach to the patient.
- Biometric measurement of the eye can help us in many ways. First, it can help us to customize our treatment of the patients to make more individual products. And also it can help us to shorten the way that we have to go together helping the patient. The individualized approach and glasses can help in a way that the patients can have a better visual acuity, that accommodation to the new glasses is not so long, it's much shorter and we have less of complaints, happier patients.
Prof Dr Ivana Mravičić, Ophthalmologist, Croatia
- Patients with differences, significant differences from what we would consider to be like a normal eye will often come in with comfortable vision at level gaze or looking straight ahead. But as they start looking at peripheral gaze or anything that's even extremely eccentric, that can become problematic. We know that we have a correlation between refractive error and the biometry. And as they move away from, say, the Gullstrand eye, then we see that, especially in eccentric gazes, they do find that the degradation of their performance in a lens that doesn't have a compensation for this is quite significant.
Dr Grant Hannaford, Optometrist, Australia
- I think the best way is to use a DNEye™ scanner and then to show on the very big TV what is the difference between with or without biometric. But I think all the equipment we've got, just to make them understand its benefits.
Sébastien Motard, Optician, France
- I have tested the big vision lenses and I think that it's very good, impressive technology.
Isabelle Dallot, Optician, France
- We change our life and improving patients' lives. It's our goal.
Dr Lenka Ottová, Ophthalmologist, Czech Republic
- It has changed a lot because now we can talk technology with our customers and we can propose them very good lenses and it's very important for us now.
Isabelle Dallot, Optician, France
- I want to give the best lenses for everyone, so I don't pick some people there, but I offer it for all ways.
Satu Järvinen, Optometrist, Finland
- For the patients in everyday life, I think we see, certainly we see strong results that come to or speak to near vision, but even night driving with the addressing of higher order aberrations, that takes away haloing and it gives them an overall more comfortable experience when they're driving in low light conditions.
Dr Grant Hannaford, Optometrist, Australia
- This reaction quite rapidly turns into almost a removal of the lens from their feeling or from their perception of what's happening with the spectacles. Ultimately, I think that's what we're looking for is this complete removal of the awareness of a lens in the process of them seeing.
Dr Grant Hannaford, Optometrist, Australia
- I find collaboration between ophthalmologists, opticians and optometrists very, very reasonable and useful because we all have the same patients, we actually all have the same problems and we can not only help the patients very much when doing things together and collaborating, we can also help each other.
- The individualized approach and glasses can help in a way that the patients can have a better visual acuity, that accommodation to the new glasses is not so long, it's much shorter and we have less of complaints, happier patients.
Prof Dr Ivana Mravičić, Ophthalmologist, Croatia
- I must say that I couldn't imagine work without cooperation of medical doctors, optometrists, ophthalmologists, orthoptists and also opticians because we have a clinic and when I want to correct patients or help him, I know that I must cooperate with any professions and the really good dream is to make the best for the patients and to make somebody's life better.
Dr Lenka Ottová, Ophthalmologist, Czech Republic
I think that the fact of talking with other professionals, optometrists and ophthalmologists and other opticians from other countries, give us the idea of another way to work. It's very important for us to change our way to work and to improve it. I think that it has a very good importance because I have tested the big vision lenses and I think that it's a very impressive technology.
Isabelle Dallot, Optician, France
- So what we will change is to explain to our customers the interest of biometric and to do all the way from A to Z to do the DNEye™ and explain the better vision with biometric lenses.
Sébastien Motard, Optician, France
- I want to give the best lenses for everyone so I don't pick some people there but I offer it always.
Satu Järvinen, Optometrist, Finland
- I think that it really started changing our practicing with our patients and everything changed in a very good way. I think that improving patients' life is our goal.
